Evaluation of Acid Resistance of Demineralized Dentin after Silver Diamine Fluoride and Potassium Iodide Treatment

چکیده

This study investigated the effects of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) and potassium iodide (KI) treatments on acid resistance dentin exposed to secondary caries. Sixteen bovine specimens with artificially induced caries were assigned following four groups: untreated negative control, positive SDF-treated (SDF), SDF KI-treated (SDFKI). Multispecies cariogenic biofilms containing Streptococcus mutans, Lactobacillus casei, Candida albicans cultured for 28 days, except control group. Specimens from group stored in phosphate-buffered saline that period. After a biofilm challenge, degree demineralization was evaluated using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). As result data analysis micro-CT, depths SDF, SDFKI groups 149.0 ± 7 μm, 392.0 11 206.0 20 230.0 31 respectively. The significantly reduced compared There no significant differences between groups. confirmed increase KI did not affect cariesarresting effect SDF.

Efficacy of silver diamine fluoride for Arresting Caries Treatment.

Arresting Caries Treatment (ACT) has been proposed to manage untreated dental caries in children. This prospective randomized clinical trial investigated the caries-arresting effectiveness of a single spot application of: (1) 38% silver diamine fluoride (SDF) with tannic acid as a reducing agent; (2) 38% SDF alone; (3) 12% SDF alone; and (4) no SDF application in primary teeth of 976 Nepalese s...
